Sailfish & Summer League

We strive to make sure that Sailfish athletes and parents are exemplary to their summer league peers and display leadership qualities. As for the question of balancing Sailfish commitment and a summer league team, it depends on the age and level of experience of your child. We provide advice in accordance with each group.

For Academy swimmers, we encourage them to participate with their summer league teams and take advantage of the opportunity to recognize their accomplishments and be a leader. We try to schedule our practices so that both are an option! Have fun at those summer league practices and swim meets with friends and family! Typically swim meets do not conflict.

In Stroke Development and Age Group, we urge swimmers to stay with their summer league teams. It is a great opportunity to showcase their hard work and get rewarded for it! Attendance at summer league practices is welcome, although not as a substitute for Sailfish practices. As stated before, swim meets do not tend to conflict.

We encourage swimmers in Age Group Performance to maintain a high level of training with Sailfish while having fun at summer league meets. If you choose to participate in Summer League, try to look for opportunities to be a junior coach. Aim to help the younger kids on your team by mentoring them in practice and assisting them in meets. By doing so, you will ensure the new swimmers have an enjoyable summer league experience!

In the Senior & Senior Performance, the amount of time devoted to summer league swimming or coaching will depend on the swimmer's commitment to Sailfish and their goals. It is important to maintain consistent performance and training that is tailored to their personal objectives as well as supporting their preparations for competing in college swimming. To ensure success and progress, swimmers should commit fully to their Long Course summer training, avoiding any distractions or disruptions, in order to stay focused in fulfilling their goals.
